Biblegateway has failed me!

I want to find a passage that supports the idea that the Spirit will not convict us of something outside of scripture...

Any suggestions?

Or thoughts on what the Spirit convicts us on?

  2. Galatians 5:16-24 talks about walking by the Spirit and not by the desires of the flesh. I think sometimes the only way to discern between the two is to double check with Scripture.
I don't have a bible verse off the top of my head, but I think the main role of the Spirit is to convict us of the truth in Scripture. (You'd probably know one, let me know).
I've been reading a book on the Will of God and it seems to be saying that although God has, through prophets, given messages or Spiritual leading by the Spirit that are not in Scripture, but the author describes these as exceptional experiences, not normative. Ie, God does not normally work through those sorts of experiences.
Don't know if that makes sense....just my thoughts.
